I asked Patty to show me the country store that I went to in 1951 and this is the one she remembered. This one is located on the corner of 115 and 105. The one I was thinking of was located on the corner of 115 and Mineral Springs Trail. Patty says when we left Georgia in 1951 we bought ice cream bars here and forgot to pay for them.

One day mother took us to the other store that I remember it being run by an old lady to do some shopping. The old lady was used to doing things the old way, the way you see in western movies, where you go up to the counter and tell the storekeeper what you need and she would get it for you.

Mother asked if she could look around because she wasn't sure what she wanted or what brands she wanted to buy. The old lady told her OK but it was clear she wasn't used to people shopping this way and followed mother around and took the things she picked out back to the counter. Michael took some pictures of the inside of the Sautee Store that will give you and idea of what the store I remember was like.
